Registrations open on May 9, 2014 Starting Friday, May 9 registrations are open for the 5th anniversary Rodopi Advendurun (ROUT) of 2014. Registrations will use the online registration form ( http://www.rout.gr/index.php?name=Rout&file=registration) and will last until August 31. 120 athletes who will be admitted to the race this year regardless of country of origin. Registration is a two-stage process, first the application for participation is approved and then you are notified to proceed with the fees payment. The payment period for those already fulfilling the criteria and thus approved to participate will begin on June 16 and will last until the 120 places are filled up or until August 31, if there are still openings. The organization will take special provisions to ensure a minimum number of starters are athletes residing outside Greece.
The qualification criterion remains the same as in previous years, an approved trail race of at least 80 km over the past 3 years (2011 to 2014 ). The entry fee for this year's race will be 120 EUROS with upgraded race support in the aid stations and a more comprehensive race souvenir assortment. Race course, rules and regulations remain unchanged as of past November with the only exception being the race cut-off reduced this year to 40 hours. As a closing remark the ROUT Steering Committee feels the need to emphasize the jubilant aspect of this year's event. 2014 marks five years since the first edition of ROUT 100-mile, the first trail race over the 100 mile distance in Greece. ROUT in 2010 marked a new era for Greek mountain running, been the hallmark in the development of local trail running scene, going through a mutation to a true endurance and adventure race as this is aptly captured by the new name for the race, the Rodopi Advendurun.
The Steering Committee of ROUT took care to instill consistently until today the philosophy of a race not confined to the narrow limits of an organized racing event but provides athletes with the opportunity to experience an immersion to the pristine nature of Rodopi mountains. Today, with the experience of four previous editions, adventure transpires the Rodopi Advendurun and this spirit will prevail in all our future endeavors.
